Uniform Information

Information about our School Uniform requirements is listed below:
School Uniform

Our school uniform promotes a sense of pride and belonging to the St Oswald’s family, but we try to keep it as simple and practical as possible.

The school uniform children are expected to wear is as follows:

Sweatshirt or Cardigan: red with our school logo
Polo Shirt: red or white
Skirt or Pinafore: grey
Trousers: grey, long or short (not leggings)
Socks: grey or black
Tights: grey, red or black
Shoes: black, flat, sensible (no trainers)
In the summer, between Easter and October half term, red checked dresses may be worn

PE
There are minimal changes to school uniform for PE. Children do PE in their normal polo shirt and sweatshirt, but on PE days may come in black leggings or jogging pants to aid movement in PE. Black shorts may be worn underneath if it is warm. Children will wear normal school shoes (not trainers) to school and change into black pumps, (not trainers) which are kept in school.

Just to clarify, on your child’s PE day, they come to school in their normal polo shirt and sweatshirt, with plain black leggings or plain black jogging pants in place of their skirt or trousers. They wear normal school shoes and change into pumps (not trainers) in school on the day.

Sweatshirts and cardigans with our school logo on can be purchased from Whittakers uniform suppliers in Blackburn. All other items can be purchased from most clothing retailers and major supermarkets.

Forest School
The children take part in Forest School for 3 half term blocks over the school year. This is so the children can experience the outdoors in Autumn/Winter, Spring/Summer and the Summer term. The children go outside for their Forest School session whatever the weather and therefore need to be prepared. Please make sure the clothes you send are such that the children don’t have to worry about keeping them clean.
This is a guide. All children are different and your child may get cold easily and therefore require more layers. Please go with what is right for your child but remember it is better to have too many clothes than not enough. WARM AND WATERPROOF IS ESSENTIAL.
• Long trousers
• Long sleeved top
• Sturdy boots/wellies
• Warm, waterproof coat
• Gloves/Hat
During the summer months, a message will be sent out regarding sun cream/hat.
We also have red book bags with our school logo on and we encourage all children to have these. They can be purchased from the school office.
It’s very important that all items or clothing and other possessions are clearly named.
Health and Safety (Jewellery and Hair)

Jewellery is not permitted in school. Small studs may be worn in the ears, but these must be removed on PE days and for swimming. A small watch may be worn, but smartwatches are not permitted, as these can also pose a safeguarding risk.
Long hair must be tied back at all times to prevent the spread of headlice, and hairstyles must not be extreme (by this we mean no lines, ticks, dyed hair or decorations)
