Global Neighbours

Here at St Oswald's, we celebrate our close ties with charitable foundations helping our neighbours in Africa.
For many years, St Oswald's has raised funds for the Bethany Project in East Africa, who look after and teach more than 200 orphaned children, in the rural Magu District of Tanzania.  Whenever they tour with their wonderful children's choir, they always pay us a visit, treating us to a performance of their amazing, spiritual voices.  The Bethany children's visits are always a highlight for everyone in school - they are part of our school family.  This picture shows their most recent visit in Autumn 2019.

For several years, St Oswald's sponsored two children for Compassion International. Although as a school we no longer sponsor children, several of our staff do so in a personal capacity, and a member of staff has been over to visit them with support from her church.  As a school, we also raise money for educational materials to be sent which enables so many other children to experience the wonders of education, as we do here in school.

As a member of the Cidari Academy family, we now subscribe and regularly use the website Lyfta.  This amazing resource enables our children to explore and experience cultures from around the world.  High quality video, live experiences and virtual tours, with content created by people who live in each place, really gives our children a 'window on the world'.
